Prior to Move In

Before move-in, be sure to check your assigned move-in time—sent via email over the summer. These times are designed to keep the process running smoothly. You'll also need to complete your Move-In Checklist, available in your Resident Portal under Messages & Alerts and sent via email. This must be completed before you can receive your keys.

Move-In Essentials

As you prepare for the big day, we recommend packing a separate tote bag with your must-have essentials—things you’ll want easy access to during the move. We know moving can feel overwhelming, so we’ve created a handy checklist of what to bring on day one to help make your move as smooth and stress-free as possible.

  • Décor Style
  • Who’s bringing what for shared, common spaces
  • Temperature settings, day and nighttime settings
  • Preferred quiet hours
  • Guest preferences
  • Chores

Our best advice to give is be open for change, honest with one another, and forgive easy!

Tips for Roommates

A great living experience starts with communication and collaboration. Building strong roommate relationships begins with open conversations and shared expectations. To help you start off on the right foot, we’ve put together some helpful tips and conversation starters to guide you before move-in. Check out the list below to make your shared space work better for everyone.

When You Arrive Cover Image

When You Arrive

At The Courtyards, we’re all about keeping move-in simple and stress-free. When you arrive, head to your student’s assigned building—1760, 1770, or 1780—and park temporarily along the drive. A friendly team member will be there to greet you and walk you through the next steps, including unloading procedures and parking instructions. Moving bins will be available on a first-come, first-served basis to help make the process smoother. We kindly ask that you limit bin use to one hour or less so everyone gets a turn. It’s that easy—welcome to The Courtyards!

Parking Cover Image

Parking

On move-in day, The Courtyards parking garage will be open for limited hours to assist with the unloading process. A parking permit is required and can be obtained through management prior to arrival. Each resident is permitted to bring one (1) vehicle into the garage for move-in. Please note: trailers, moving trucks, pods, and shipping containers are strictly prohibited both on property and inside the garage. For additional parking, we’ve partnered with a nearby church to accommodate overflow vehicles. A permit is also required for this location, and the same vehicle restrictions apply. Thank you for helping us keep move-in smooth and safe for everyone!

Inventory & Condition Cover Image

Inventory & Condition

Once you’ve received your keys, The Courtyards team will upload an electronic Inventory & Condition Form to your resident portal. This required checklist must be completed within 48 hours. You'll walk through your apartment, room by room, documenting and photographing any pre-existing damage or imperfections you notice. This step is important—it ensures our team is aware of any existing issues and helps protect you from being held responsible for damages that weren’t caused by you at move-out.
